Position Overview:
The Risk Placement Advisor – Renewals is a strategic placement specialist responsible for designing, marketing, and securing optimal risk solutions for our commercial clients. This role works in collaboration with our Account Executive team to explore every viable insurance program—traditional and non-traditional—to ensure our clients have the most robust and competitive coverage in the market. The Risk Placement Advisor is expected to stay ahead of market trends, anticipate shifts in carrier appetites, and deliver creative, data-driven recommendations that add value to each renewal.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Market Placement:
    Serve as the lead strategist in marketing commercial account renewals to a broad range of insurance carriers and programs. Prepare and submit complete, high-quality submissions tailored to each market’s underwriting preferences.
  • Program Development & Alternative Solutions:
    Identify and evaluate non-traditional risk financing mechanisms (such as captives, deductible buy-backs, layered programs, etc.) when appropriate. Present options that go beyond standard renewals to deliver true value and protection.
  • Carrier Engagement:
    Negotiate directly with underwriters to secure favorable terms. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners and continuously monitor shifts in market appetite, program availability, and emerging products.
  • Coverage Analysis & Presentation:
    Compile detailed coverage comparisons and cost-benefit analyses across all quotes. Highlight coverage nuances, exclusions, and endorsements that impact client risk and cost. Collaborate with Account Executives to present findings clearly and confidently to clients.
  • Market Intelligence:
    Proactively monitor market conditions, industry developments, and competitor offerings. Maintain a pulse on pricing trends, underwriting shifts, and appetite changes across key carriers and program managers.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 5 years in commercial insurance marketing, brokerage, or underwriting—ideally with mid-market or large accounts across multiple industries. Deep understanding of coverage lines including property, casualty, and specialty lines.
  • Skills & Traits:
    • Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of risk transfer mechanisms.
    • Skilled at interpreting and comparing complex policy forms.
    • Strong written and verbal communicator, able to translate technical detail into client-friendly insights.
    • Proactive, curious, and driven to stay ahead of industry developments.
    • Highly organized and able to manage competing timelines and submissions.
  • Certifications:
    Industry designations (CPCU, ARM, CIC, CRIS, etc.) are preferred and supported by the agency.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $85,000– $95,000 annually, depending on experience
