Claims Risk Manager

Responsible for proactive management of property, casualty and financial lines claims within the Commercial and Personal Lines departments.  Advocate for clients’ interests through the claims process.  Identify trends in loss experience to help identify areas for risk management improvement.  This is a client-facing role that directly contributes to retention and client satisfaction. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the claim process to ensure prompt and fair claim resolution. 
  • Facilitate communication between client, carrier, and agency through in person claim reviews; prepare claim summaries and action plans to support meeting goals. 
  • Utilize claim data to identify loss trends and recommend corrective action.
  • Analyze total cost of risk with different coverage and retention scenarios. 
  • Responsible for making sure every IMA client knows what to expect as they navigate a claim. 
  • Create & implement special claim handling procedures for key accounts.
  • Communicate our claims management services to current and prospective clients as a value-added service. 
  • Develop procedures for reporting and service of routine claims.
  • Supervisory responsibilities for Claims personnel.


Required skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years’ claims experience.
  • Understanding of the financial impact of claims. 
  • Strong coverage knowledge and claim handling experience in WC, GL, or Property lines.
  • Understanding of Cyber, Management and Professional Liability coverage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability create trusted working relationships.
  • Technical skills to read policy language and apply coverage.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to create graphics and presentations in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to work well with others to achieve common goals. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ready for a challenge with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to create and follow through on action plans.
  • Insurance designations a plus.


Education:

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
